This introspective New Moon energy has me feeling very grateful for how far I have come and reflective on how I got here. Many of you know a large part of how I got to this point — being a full time soap maker and preaching the good word of plants and self care — was in direct reaction to extreme illness and sensitivity. In 2002 I had the bottom part of my left lung removed and my recovery was slow and left a lot to be desired but I expected an awful lot from myself. I finished up some degrees & started teaching college level geology and geologic disasters all while building my soap business, slowly but obsessively, painstakingly persistent. Choosing ingredients that did not make me sick and seeking Holistic wellness. In 2009 a twist of fate changed my life forever.. I met @dr.marykgeyer — she was pregnant and kind and brilliant.. her hands were tiny and held wisdom I could see furiously jotting down notes while mindfully, with her whole heart and mind LISTENING and asking me what life is like in this body, validating and finding specific changes to help me. She gave me homework, she has taught me SO MUCH, she’s cured me of so many strange afflictions conventional doctors were entirely dumbfounded by or told me I would be on life threatening meds for the rest of my life. She gets me.. medically, spiritually, physically, mentally. She gave me tools to heal mySelf. When I sing her praises here, please know this is no fleeting friendly referral for curing some sniffles. She has remedied the most complex illnesses to the most mundane. She has played the role of primary care, gynecologist, endocrinologist, acupuncturist and more. My life would not be what it is now without this incredible doctor. She is now one of my dearest friends and Sisters.
