I looooove me some chai. I hadn’t had it in ages until last Friday at a wonderful Woman’s Rite of Passage Workshop at my favorite yoga studio, Inside the Bungalow, one of the amazing instructors, Ingrid, brought a thermos of delicious homemade chai to share. The theme of the workshop was gratitude and it paired perfectly with the warm, comforting chai and now I am craving it!  I love inhaling its sweet aroma, I love the warm feeling of the ginger and pepper, I even love cooking...

“Come, let us have some tea and continue to talk about happy things.” -Chaim Potok Yesterday was my birthday so as part of my celebration I went to one of my favorite tea shops to splurge on some loose leaf teas. I drink raspberry leaf tea like it is going out of style. It tastes great, is packed with vitamins, and helps balance out hormones – great stuff! I excitedly bought some of the fluffy, alfalfa-smelling tea when I noticed a huge bag labeled lemon verbena! I used to...

I love tea, not a fleeting puppy love, not a passing whim, love love love. White, green, oolong, black, flavored, plain, hot, iced you name it, as long as it isn’t sweetened it is my best friend. I like to play around with different flavors so I decided to make this one up for February. It looks fun and tastes fantastic. All it took was a quick trip to my local Asian market where I can find good quality loose leaf green tea, bags of rose buds, and bags of dried jasmine blossoms (which I...

I cannot explain it but lately I have been mad for ginger! Perhaps I am out of balance in some way and need the added heat of ginger but I have been juicing it with carrots and green apples for a yummy, sweet and hot healthy drink and I have been brewing it into tea. It was my use of it in tea and my left over coconut milk from my cherry-almond ice ‘cream’ and my moisturizing face mask that inspired me to make this tasty chai. First a little background [just here for the recipe?...

Believe it or not, even I – the deep breathing aromatherapy enthusiast – can let stress get the best of me. I am no fun when I am a stress-monster.. no one is. I do well to manage my stress by eating right and getting enough sleep but when it cannot be helped my skin erupts. There is no stopping it – it is a force of nature! Hormones and stress.. there are no stronger forces in the battle against your skin. No matter what 1000 dollar or 100% pure product line you are using...

loving lavender

The lavender bush in my back yard is my absolute pride and joy. It is bursting with color and fragrance and is a favorite treat for the neighborhood bees. Of all of the many herbs, fruits, and flowers that I work with lavender is by far my favorite. Why, you ask? As if its beautiful spears of tiny purple blossoms were not enough, it is by far the most versatile as far as aromatherapy and general use is concerned. It is my most popular scent for all of my body products from handmade soaps to...
